First of all, Ilona, let me correct you when you write that what you have to say probably doesn’t mean a lot to me. It really does. There are so many others in the past that have gone through much worse than I ever did and I can now say that I am proud to have been part of that same tradition of having served my Country with honor.

The memories are always there and will probably always be there. But, through the years and the proper help from the VA one learns that these memories can be those of pride and the knowledge that I served with honor. I’ve learned through the years that even bad memories don’t want to be completely erased. I can now only face it head-on and not let the bad emotions overcome the pride. You hide from your fears and they will haunt you forever. Face up to them and then YOU then have control. . . . . Thanks for writing/GB . . . . . . . . Beanie
