Well, I can say that I returned a totally different person from my experiences. I tried to blend in with the new world and was met with frustration early on, (college). I recall a professor asking on the first day of class, "Any vets in the class?" If so could you please remove yourselves to the back of the class so the students "paying" for their education can come forward.

That not only pissed me off, I decided then to bury the war deep inside. It never goes away and I even joined the VFW. Hear the old vets played that Viet Nam wasn't a war thing on me. I recall when the leader of the group read out my decorations in the formal part of the meeting, they all just shut up and then I was ok and respected. I just looked blank at them and left right after.

I am proud I severed those two years there. Yes, I entered the darkness and I returned to the light. Now I deal with my oldest son after his tours of duty in Iraq. He is going through the same damn pain I did. The only thing now is, back at home he is a hero. I'm glad for him for that. But if you see me now, I no longer live in the US. After traveling the world, I ended up in Belgium. It feels better now and my demons are resting once more.

God bless the soldier, They enter the valley of death,..... and they taste evil. God give their families the strength to help them back into the light again.
