Howdy Michelle;

CPL Jerry Peter Wynne's Marine Corps Serial Number is 2229380 and he enlisted. His MOS was 2111 (Infantry Weapon Repairman). He was born on 2/12/45 and his hometown of record is Barberton, OH. It is not known when his tour of duty in Vietnam commenced, but he was assigned to Subunit 1, Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. He was KIA on 8/27/67 in Thua Thien Province due to "Hostile, Ground Casualty, Gun, Small-Arms Fire". CPL Wynne's religious preference was Roman Catholic, he was married, and his body was recovered.

The only homepage for HQ Bn., 3rd Marine Division (be careful here since a division is not a regiment) that I can find is at http://unitpages.military.com/unitpages/unit.do?id=500393 . They have 943 members on their roster many of whom have dates of service which overlap 1967. You could try leaving a message there. The capitol of Thua Thien Province is Hue. For 1:250,000 scale maps of the area see http://www.nexus.net/~911gfx/mapne4816.html .

As a daughter-in-law of a deceased veteran, you qualify to request a copy of CPL Wynne's Marine Corps personnel file and a set of replacement medals (if necessary) from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Good luck!
