Howdy Brenda;

I assume that by "1st and 4th Cav" that you mean the 1st Squadron, 4th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. You best bet is to contact the guys of the 1st/4th Cav. at http://www.quarterhorsecav.org/page1.htm . One of the pages on that site at http://www.quarterhorsecav.org/pg44a.htm mentions that a SSG Douglas D. Harlow was wounded at some point between 9/11/65 and 12/31/65 and that he was in C Troop. C Troop was assigned to the 2nd Bde. of the "Big Red One" at the time and had its base camp at Phu Loi, Binh Duong Province, which is about 25 Km. due north of Saigon (see http://www.nexus.net/~911gfx/vietnam/maps/nc48-07/nc48_07c.html ).

In any case, if SSG Harlow has reported in to squadron HQ, then you have a good chance of locating him, but if he hasn't, then it's a matter of making a lot of long-distance phone calls until you hit the nail on the head. Good luck!
