Howdy Anonymous;

I'm having a problem understanding your unit designations. There is a C Company, 227th Assualt Helicopter Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) which served in Vietnam between Sept., 1965 until Jul., 1971, but what do you mean by the "14th"? 14th what? There were no units with a numerical designation of 14 in the 1st Cav. Div. (see http://www.gruntonline.com/Order%20of%20Battle/US%20Army/us_army_oob5.htm ). There is a 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and a 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment, but insofar as I'm aware, they never served in Vietnam.

The only "air assualt" divisions in Vietnam were the 101st Airborn Division (Airmobile) and the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) plus the 173rd Airborne Brigade (and I think that one brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division was there for a short while). Where in the world is Nui Dat? Is it in III Corps? Which province? I'd like to help, but your best bet is to ask the guys at the B Co., 227th AHB website at http://www.blu.org/b227th/ about it or you could try the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots' Association.
