Howdy Andrew;

Could you be more specific on exactly what kind of documentation on Bien Hoa Air Base in 1965 that you're looking for? For a general account of Bien Hoa AB see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bien_Hoa_Air_Base . Also, the VSPA at http://www.vspa.com/bien-hoa-stories.htm has some information on the place going back to 1965. After the first major Marine Corps ground combat unit (the 9th Marine Expeditionary Brigade) landed at Da Nang on Mar., 8th, 1965, the first major Army ground combat unit was the 173rd Airborne Brigade which flew into Bien Hoa AB in early May, 1965.

Bien Hoa AB and the nearby Long Binh military complex was huge. Most Army guys will remember landing at Binh Hoa AB and being transported in cattle trucks to the 90th Replacement Battalion at Long Binh with no weapons. See http://www.gingerb.com/vietnam_bien_hoa.htm .
