Howdy Gil;

PFC Edward Anthony Uribe's Army Serial Number is RA 19852074 (which means that he enlisted) and his MOS is listed as "unknown". He was born on 8/11/45 (not 8/11/48) and his hometown of record is Los Angeles, CA. His tour of duty in Vietnam commenced on 6/5/66 and he was assigned to either the 34th General Support Group or to the 101st Airborne Division. He was KIA somewhere in South Vietnam on 10/1/66 due to "Non-Hostile, Ground Casualty, Other Accident". PFC Uribe's religious preference is listed as "unknown", he was single, and his body was recovered.

There's a lot of missing and even contradictory information in this case. This occured fairly early during the war and the public records are not all that great. For example, I can find no information on PFC Uribe's MOS, religious preference, or the name of the province where he was KIA. In addition, the Coffelt KIA Data Base (CKDB) says that his major unit was the 34th General Support Group but does not specify a battalion or company and the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Wall (VVMW) says that his major unit was the 101st Abn. Div. Insofar as I'm aware, no unit of the 34th was ever assigned or attached to the 101st nor vice-versa so there's a contradiction here.

I'm not sure what you mean by, "He was my Big Brother." If you are truely related as brothers (or half-brothers since your last names are different), then you would qualify as next-of-kin and could request a copy of PFC Uribe's Army personnel file (and a set of replacement medals if necessary) from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and clear some of this up. See http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/get-service-records.html for particulars.

Information on the 34th GS Group can be found at:

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/army/34asg.htm
or

http://academic.uofs.edu/faculty/gramborw/atav/usarv.htm

which contains the complete order-of-battle for the 34th during the Vietnam Era. You could also ask the 101st Association at http://www.screamingeagle.org/ to see if they have a PFC Edward A. Uribe listed on their Vietnam-Era KIA roster. Good luck!
