Although this is a simple piece it speaks a great deal into how a little reminder of home can help them through the war. Just hearing Jimi Hendrix helped him think of his life back home and the music he loves and this short distraction can have a huge impact on a soldier’s moral. Even with the mortar fire in the background the music made it seem like fire works and just part of the scenery rather than the harsh reality of war.
