Nancy,

I hope you understand how very important the USO shows were to us during the war years. Every Vietnam Veteran remembers the USO, donut dollies, and especially Bob Hope’s shows! They were always a touch of home, and a reminder of what he ‘hoped’ to find waiting for us. Nothing like an American woman, then or now, and that reminds me of a story about a model who had grown older and didn’t have as many modeling jobs as the years passed. Supposedly, she decided to ‘claim’ what she perceived as her fading beauty as a ‘tax deduction’, which was ultimately denied. She appealed to a federal level court and the media was followinging the case closely, knowing the judge was of the political persuasion then not in power and ready to blast him in the headlines. His ruling was insightful, and most Solomon-like in wisdom, in that as he denied her claim for a tax deduction, ruling that United States Courts deny any belief that the beauty of an American Women fades with time. I think the American military, then and now, would strongly agree.

Thank you for caring, and a special Welcome Home,

Don Poss

PS: Spelling corrected at http://www.vspa.com/nkp-paddock-bob-hope-ann-margret-1968.htm. Sorry’bout that.
