The short story Chilled written by John Legend shows the different types of situations that soldiers have to go through while fighting for our country. This also shows how the soldiers live in many different weather temperatures and what they experience out on the battlefield. The author John Legend wrote this short story to show imagery of the different things that happen on the battlefield like injuries. When I read this short story, I didn't know what the soldiers had to go through physically seeing day in and day out. I know now that you not only have to be physically strong but also mentally too because they witness some horrific things that people would never imagine seeing.
