No clues whatsoever? Like compadres from back then? Many Marine groups..have websites these days, long tedious way perhaps? But..the 3rd Marines usually refers to the 3rd Division, which runs deeeper, like Regiments, Battalions and finally Companies..that time period..3rd Marines means Quang Tri..northern I Corps and not the place to be in 1968..bout all I know without more clues.
