Soft shelled eggs can be caused by lack of calcium.
I supply my peahens with oyster shell (crushed) that can be
purchased at feed stores.

Or sometimes a peahen's system gets out of rythem and her
egg gets layed before the calcium layer is added.
Sometimes a peahen is not able to lay her soft shelled egg
and may die trying

I do have some oyster shell somewhere, but now I just give my bantams their own eggshells, microwaved and crushed. They seem to like them. :) The peafowl are all free-range, but I'll remember to put some crushed eggshells down for them when they turn up. Thanks for your help. xx
