We have a 6 month old peachick that we hatched from an abandoned nest. We have been thinking it was a peahen, but "she" has been lifting "her" tail straight up like a peacock. Can anyone tell me if peahens exhibit this same behavior as the males do when they want to intimidate another bird or show their dominance. I have never seen this in a female. I read a lot but have not seen anything to answer this question.

The display (fan dance) can be done by peacocks, peahens,
and sometimes by very tiny fuzzy peachicks. Adults do it to
prove who is the alpha male or female and there will be
disputes about who is boss.
A peafowl who feels threatened can flash its tail to make itself look bigger to a predator or another peafowl.
Some juveniles display much earlier than others.
Peafowls have different personalities just like we do
