Subject: Sick peachick

I've had the fourth peachick hatch two days ago, and this little one seems to be having problems.

At first it could not stand or walk, one leg just stuck out straight in front underneath it. I changed the papertowel out and put rubber shelf liner in and he's doing 100% better walking now. However, while I was watching it, it made a poop that was very un-bird-like. It was clear fluid, no solidity to it at all, no color at all. It wasn't just a drop or two either, more like a tablespoon. I also noticed that one eye doesn't open. On the same side as the unopened eye is a patch of missing feathers on its head - I assumed this was from the membrane sticking and pulling out the feathers when it hatched. But I don't remember the closed eye when it hatched. It sleeps all the time too so usually both eyes are closed.

I'm most worried about that water-poop. Is this the sign of some sickness? And the closed eye worries me too, it's not gunky. My guess on that is that while it couldn't walk well it injured the eye and now it's just healing with the lids closed?

Any thoughts? I just hate to loose a bird that isn't even mine (I'm raising these for my mother while she's on vacation). Thanks for any ideas

It might be coccidiosis.
The medication for this is Sulmet.(which goes in drinking
water)
I use a medicated chick starter to prevent this.
The medication in this starter is Amprolium
======yes,
the "spammers" are a BIG pain so I spend most of my time
at my own website which I hope that those (unmentionable
word) do not find

The peachick seems fine now. Since its bad eye opened up, it has been able to eat well and the poos are normal. It doesn't sleep so much either.

So I don't know if the weird water-like poo was because of stress from it's initial struggle with the bad leg and bad eye or what.

I didn't give it medication or medicated starter feed, just apple cider vinegar in their water.

You wouldn't know there was ever a thing wrong with it now. Thanks
