AS I LAY ASLEEP
AT PEACE WITH THE LORD
HE CAME INTO MY DREAM
AND HIS VOICE ROARED

MY CHILDREN ARE HUNGRY
THEY MUST BE FED
MY CHILDREN ARE LOST
THEY MUST BE LED

BRING THEM TO ME
YOUNG AND OLD
GO IN MY NAME
STAND TALL AND BOLD

BUT JESUS I PLEADED
WHY PICK ME
I AM NO LEADER
HOW CAN THIS BE

WHAT CAN I TELL THEM
THAT THEY HAVE NOT HEARD
WHAT DO THEY NEED
THEY NEED MY WORD

HIS REPLY WAS QUICK
HIS WORDS WERE SHARP
HIS VOICE RANG
LIKE A GOLDEN HARP

FEED MY CHILDREN
THEY MUST BE FED
LEAD MY CHILDREN
THEY MUST BE LED

BUT WHAT WILL I FEED THEM
HOW WILL I KNOW
WHERE WILL I FIND THEM
WHERE SHOULD I GO

START IN YOUR HOUSE
YOUR CHURCH YOUR TOWN
BRING THEM TO ME
TO GATHER AROUND

BRING ALL TO THE ALTER
THAT WISH TO BE FED
FOR I AM THEIR WATER
MY WORD IS THEIR BREAD

I AM THE SHEPHERD
YET MY SHEEP ARE LOST
BRING THEM TO ME
AT ANY COST

I HUNG ON THE CROSS
FOR THE WORLD TO SEE
I DIED FOR YOU
SO DO THIS FOR ME

WILL YOU WAKE UP
AND DO AS I ASK
OR WILL YOU CONTINUE TO SLEEP
AND PUT OFF YOUR TASK

I WOKE UP THAT MORNING
THESE WORDS FRESH IN MY HEAD
