ah, i used to read both the beano and the dandy and thoroughly enjoyed both. but 60p? that's an outrage! i've glanced at the comics over the years since i stopped reading them and can't say i've been too impressed. i'm sad to hear that it's got to this sorry state now when no child who doesn't have
a) more pocket money than he/she deserves
b) a sideline in mugging
can afford a the damn thing. in the good old days 70p would have got you both comics. now it'd only get you one and you wouldn't even have enough left over for a cadbury's fudge bar! bloody hell!
if the comic had got much bigger and/or was made of velvet or some other nice material, that would be forgiveable. the fact is though that good characters are constantly being scrapped in favour of totally lame ones (tim traveler? that is the most bent thing i have ever heard) and artists were constantly being replaced with really crappy ones, meaning that once good looking comic strips began to look stupid. the dandy was better than the beano in my opinion anyway (and it came first don't you know) so i don't think i could bring myself to look at the sorry state that'll have descended to. oh the humanity!
