Hi,
I can safely say, you don't want to catch up with this guy!
Glen Pasin is no longer based in Newcastle you can find him in Jail in Sydney. He is a convicted Paedophile. If that is not vile enough he is a lyer and a scammer. Trust me stay away from him.

- SPECIAL DEALS in MAY @ PETER NORTHCOTE recording STUDIOS. St Peters -- PETER NORTCHOTE, 27/04/09 Mon
I'm doing some EXTRA SPECIAL DEALS in MAY for demos and EP's.I have some awesome vintage and modern guitar amps and about 50 guitars. The live room is what Chad Wackerman (who shared the studio with me for many years) considers the "best drum sound in Sydney".(me too).I don't just put mics in front of things and press RECORD. I will help you arrange and produce and even play on the tracks if that's what you want. With decades of experience recording with and for the the best, I know how to get the best out of you....anyone!Nows the time to get some demos done.
Also a great place to do pre-production or just record a rehearsal to work on arrangements. There's a great cafe in the facility and the relaxed environment inspires creativity. (with one of the most comfy couches ever.hey Loz?)

- USTAD AMJAD ALI KHAN LIVE IN SYDNEY -- teamcore4 (A CONCERT OF A LIFETIME), 18/04/09 Sat
THE FREEDOM CONCERT 2009 by USTAD AMJAD ALI KHAN at the State Theatre Saturday, 15 August 2009 at 19:00
Khan is one of the few maestros who consider his audience to be the soul of his motivation.
He has performed at the WOMAD Festival in Adelaide and New Plymouth, Taranaki in New Zealand, WOMAD Rivermead Festival in UK, Edinburgh Music Festival, World Beat Festival in Brisbane, Summer Arts Festival in Seattle, BBC Proms, International Poets Festival in Rome, Shiraz Festival, UNESCO, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Adelaide Music Festival, 1200 Years celebration of Frankfurt and Schonbrunn in Vienna.
He is a recipient of the UNESCO Award, Padma Vibhushan (Highest Indian civilian award), Unicef's National Ambassadorship, The Crystal Award by the World Economic Forum and Hon'ry Doctorates from the Universities of York in 1997, England, Delhi University in 1998, Rabindra Bharati University in 2007, Kolkata and the Vishva Bharti (Deshikottam) in Shantiniketan in 2001. He has represented India in the first World Arts Summit in Venice in 1991, received Hon'ry Citizenship to the States of Texas (1997), Massachusetts (1984), Tennessee (1997), the city of Atlanta, Georgia (2002), Albuquerque, NM (2007)and the Key of the City of Tulsa, Oklahoma (2007). April 20th, 1984 was cleared as Amjad Ali Khan Day in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1995, Mr. Khan awarded the Gandhi UNESCO Medal in Paris for his composition Bapukauns. In 2003,the maestro received “Commander of the Order of Arts and letters” by the French Government and the Fukuoka Cultural grand prize in Japan in 2004.
He represented India in the first World Arts Summit in Venice, received Hon'ry Citizenship to the States of Texas, Massachusetts, Tennessee and the city of Atlanta. April 20th, 1984 was declared as Amjad Ali Khan Day in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1995, Mr. Khan was awarded the Gandhi UNESCO Medal in Paris for his composition Bapukauns.
His collaborations include a piece composed for the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Yoshikazu Fukumora titled Tribute to Hong Kong, duets with guitarist Charley Byrd, Violinist Igor Frolov, Suprano Glenda Simpson, Guitarist Barry Mason and UK Cellist Matthew Barley. He has been a visiting professor at the Universities of Yorkshire, Washington, North Eastern and New Mexico. BBC Magazine had voted one of his recent CDs titled ‘Bhairav’ among the best 50 classical albums of the world for the year 1995. In 1994, his name was included Biographical in International Directory of Distinguished Leadership, 5th edition. In 1999, Mr. Khan inaugurated the World Festival of Sacred Music with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In 1998, Khan composed the signature tune for the 48th International Film Festival. In March 2002, Mr. Khan released his Carnegie Hall concert recording, Sarod for Harmony-Live at Carnegie Hall to commemorate his fiftieth performing year. In 2003, Maestro Amjad Ali Khan performed for His Royal Highness Prince Charles at his Highgrove Estate for the second time after earlier recitals in 1989, 1995 and 1997(at St. James Palace). He has been a regular performer at the Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Kennedy Center, Santury Hall (First Indian performer), House of Commons, Theater Dela Ville, Muee Guimet, ESPLANADE in Singapore, Palais beaux-arts, Mozart Hall in Frankfurt, Chicago Symphony Center, St. James Palace and the Opera House in Australia. In his case, the term 'beauty of the Ragas' acquires a special meaning as he has to his credit the distinction of having created many new Ragas. It is love for music and his belief in his music that has enabled him to interpret traditional notions of music for a new refreshing way, reiterating the challenge of innovation and yet respecting the timelessness of tradition.
Two books have been written on him. The World of Amjad Ali Khan by UBS Publishers in 1995 and Abba-God’s Greatest Gift To Us by his sons, Amaan and Ayaan published by Roli Books-Lustre Publications in 2002. A documentary on Mr. Khan called Strings for Freedom won the Bengal Film Journalist Association Award and was also screened at the Ankara Film Festival in 1996.
In 2007, Mr. Khan featured in the Southbank Centre’s recently launched the Royal Festival Hall hoardings project ‘Rankin’s Front Row’, where his photograph is included in the frieze that will run the length of the river façade of the Royal Festival Hall. This year sees the premier of Samagam, a Sarod Concerto with Conductor David Murphy and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

- Sydney: Players of Shadows/Ventures and related Music -- Mike W, 14/01/09 Wed
The Shadows, The Ventures, those great guitar tunes!
We are looking for keen players (keyboard, guitar, ???) to join us in exploring/reviving this genre of music. We also have a spot for a singer.
Currently we (3 guitar guys) get together for weekly practice rehearsal sessions in the Sydney north shore. Intention is to progress to a studio with professional facilities so that we can turn up the volume and get the sound right. Gigs will come later, no doubt...
We envisage that the person(s) wishing to be part of this would (1) be able to play both backing and some solo parts (2) be passionate about the music (3) be mature (4) have his/her own gear and transport (5) be willing to spend time learning the tunes (6) be fairly serious and yet not forgetting the fun in making music (7) not have to rely on music to pay the rent, ‘cause we certainly don’t!
If you think you’re on our wavelength, please drop us an email. Let’s play and enjoy them good old melodic tunes!

Hi.
I am considering a move to Sydney for a few years to study music.
My question is are there many facilities for me to also teach drums in the Sydney area? I've been teaching in the US for about 10 years and would like to continue while I study.

- Unlikely Professional Combinations -- Leigh, 18/08/07 Sat
A Doctor who's an amazing bassist? An Engineer with blistering drumming chops? A homemaker who could give Bill Evans a run for his money? A Chiropractor with a knack for writing musical scores? A CEO who can shred notes on a electric guitar at 200 BPM? A Lawyer who has creative tendencies with lyrics and melodies?
Open to musicians who are not able to give their full attention to their craft due to balancing between professional, careers, family, or other non-musical commitments. Although the real world keeps us fulfilled with our chosen careers, we still have a fire and passion for creating music using our chosen instrument.
Meet other Musicians to talk about gigs (the presence or absence of them), jam sessions, or maybe find the lot of musicians that would be able to walk the music path with you.

- Guitarist wanted -- Glenn (Happy), 22/04/07 Sun
We are a Sydney based, 4pc Electro Synth rock band looking for a new guitarist. We play original music & occasionally might play the odd cover for a bit of fun. We have been doing regular gigs & have gigs booked this month. We are looking for a guitarist who's style would be like Nile Rodgers meets the guitarist from the scissor sisters (can't remember his name). We are looking for someone who is a good player with good gear & transport. We also do a little bit of touring (not that often) but need someone who's work is flexiable enough to accomodate touring. The band is of a professional standard & is looking for someone who conducts themself in a professional manner. We have almost finished recording 5 songs in which we want to shop around for a record deal.
While the band is still in its early stages we can pay a modest amount for gigs.
Checkout our songs & photos & bio on our page.

ARE YOU OUT THERE.

- ED GOWENS handed me "Pale Pink Roses" on a silver platter. Now at www.countrylovin.us Guest Page -- EVY, 08/08/06 Tue
I found Ed Gowens on Tom Tripp's SoundClick Message board. I listened to his song "GOD WILL BLESS AMERICA TONIGHT" ... over and over. I was driven to let everyone I could think of, know about this song. ED GOWENS read a poem on my Reflections page ... over and over. As he read it, he could hear the music in his head. He asked LORAINE WASHBURN to recite it at his ECHOTA RECORDS Studio. I received "PALE PINK ROSES FROM THE HEART OF GOD" on an mp3,
handed to me on a silver platter by Ed Gowens to show his appreciation. TOM TRIPP carried them for me, all the way home. Tom found a room for them on his GUEST PAGE at HTTP://WWW.COUNTRYLOVIN.US ... I haven't been the same since. "Thank you, God, for letting me see the bounty of your love for me." EVY ... http://www.evyofcanada.com

- "GOD WILL BLESS AMERICA TONIGHT" penned by Ed Gowens is rushed to President Bush -- EVY, 27/07/06 Thu
The latest news from Ed Gowens is soaking goosebumps all over me. "God Will Bless America Tonight" is soaring on angel wings. From its spark at http://www.soundclick.com/edgowenssongwriter/ a few days ago, this overwhelming song flew to the #5 spot on the Country General Chart. Ed Gowens' local radio station WJTH in Calhoun, Georgia has had requests pouring in since the first time this fervent patriotic song was aired. I have email requests for CD copies of the song from radio stations in Europe that are not allowed to play downloaded music, but must have an actual CD of the artist. I am preparing a Press Release for international media. What's the urgency?
TIME. AMERICA! Oh, beautiful AMERICA! Do you really know what time it is on God's prophetic clock? With ardent prayers from Canada, EVY.

- TOM TRIPP honors "The Old Syrup Sopper" with "The Prettiest Dress" -- EVY (The sentimental one.), 17/07/06 Mon
His nickname was "The Old Syrup Sopper". He was born on 17 July, 1918 to an impoverished family in Charleston, West Virginia. His stagemate on the "Louisana Hayride" show was Hank Williams -- who steered him toward a contract with MGM Records in 1949. He was also known as "the trucker ballad specialist" whose highly sentimental "impact" recitations could touch even the toughest redneck hearts. Tragically, he suffered a heart attack while driving his van on April 4, 1980. Tom Tripp honors The Old Syrup Sopper's 88th birthday with a rendition of "The Prettiest Dress" which in my opinion, would have driven Hank Williams to steer Tom Tripp toward a major label record contract. Just words? No. There are some things that time can never change. Life has inevitable moments that every heart must face. For "The Old
Syrup Sopper" it was the prettiest dress. It's at www.countrylovin.us. Dare to love ...to love like that.

- New love song. WHEN THE WORLD HAS ONE ROUND TABLE -- EVY of Canada, 27/05/06 Sat
When the world has one round table for those who hunger to be free...who cry for freedom from evil and for life with dignity; we will hear love call to one and all: Come here and sit with me. Let's have a pot luck party. We are family. Let's lift up the downtrodden. Let's give our very best. Let's come to the table. Let's find our souls some rest. For the lame let's be their feet. For the blind let us see. For the hungry there is a feast. Come here and dine with me. When the world has one round table, tears are wiped away. We thank God for his blessings and love is home to stay.(c)May 26,2006 EVY

- Thanks and "so long" to Music Places Internet Radio -- EVY of Canada, 11/05/06 Thu
Our paths were destined to cross. A few months ago, I was given the chance of a brief visit to Gringoloco Studios in Morganton, North Carolina -- where I also met Louise Myers (a cousin of Dolly Parton) along with the Dixie Grass Band.
With two recent funerals on my mind, I did not record any songs, but there is a most treasured moment I'd like to share. It's when I sat in the control room of Music Places Internet Radio and watched Wayne Fetherbay's face as he played "Laura's Theme" on his harmonica. Wish the entire world could have heard the magic! Due to recent happy developments on my music scene, I have withdrawn my songs from being heard on internet radio stations. Wayne Fetherbay -- you are one musical genius I will remember forevermore. - ~*~ DRUMMER NEEDED FOR MELBOURNE BAND VESPERTINE~*~ -- vespertine, 10/05/06 Wed
~*~ DRUMMER NEEDED FOR MELBOURNE BAND VESPERTINE~*~
We are a melodic indie rock band. We have been playing in Melbourne for the past year. We need a dedicated drummer who plans to make a future with the band.
Short term plans are: rehearse new songs to put into set, release single and get it out there to radio, labels etc..., single launch; Long term plans: record label (to fund) recording, touring, video clips etc...
We have recorded a single at Hothouse in St. Kilda and will be filming a video clip soon for it, and the single will be released independently in select record stores, available at gigs and online, (this is a product to put out there so a record label can see what we are capable of, and then hopefully sign us and then we can record an album...)
Songs in our set at the moment sound similar to Veruca Salt, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters... and our band ;) (other influences are: the Vines, Juliana Hatfield, Nirvana, the Breeders, Metallica, Radiohead, Ween, Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer, Supergrass, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, The Red Sun Band, Magic Dirt, Silverchair, Linda Perry, k.d.lang, the Beatles, the Doors, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, ABBA, Jimi, Pink Floyd, the Kinks, Deftones, Tori Amos, Beck, the White Stripes......!)
Roughly around our ages (26 and 22) but over 18 and up to around 30...
Email owl@bigpond.net.au for an audition day/time. We will send you full mp3 versions of live and demo songs, and any other information you need. Meanwhile you can visit http://vespertineband.tripod.com & www.myspace.com/vespertine1 **new live songs added**

- Urgent. TOM TRIPP was always there for you. We still have "today" ... -- EVY, 13/04/06 Thu
Dear TOM TRIPP fans:
Two nights ago, I had a telephone revelation from Tom's live-in nephew, who expressed serious concern about Tom Tripp's re-admission to the Shawnee Mission Hospital in Shawnee, Kansas. It shreds my heart to let you know that Tom now needs 24-hour medical supervision. Our favourite Storyteller, TOM TRIPP -- a post-polio survivor who has been blessed with angel wings on his wheelchair -- is in no condition to reply to your emails. We do not know when he will be able to catch up on his correspondence.
Thank you, God, for today. On Tom's behalf I wish you ALL
a very blessed and HAPPY EASTER. EVY http://www.soundclick.com/tomtripp/ Link Page.

Thomas A. Edison's 1903 Amberola tune stole the show at Stu's Place radio program at CKWR 98.5fm in Waterloo, Ontario recently. The historic and majestic song "Rule Britannia" by Band Farrington and Chorus made me want to applaud. It was quite an experience to be at the same interview with Wayne Leadston of Guelph, Ontario, watch him wind up the Amberola, and hear this memorable song being played on-air. Visit Mike Younger's website at www.mikeyounger.com or www.cdbaby.com. Mike wins WRA Song Contest for "Together". Together is a song initially inspired by the reality of homeless people woven into this wealthy society, and by the wide-reaching poverty I have seen standing in the shadow of luxury on the boulevards and avenues of my travels. I see the song as an expression of a personal prayer of mine that our society finds some way to move forward down the path of change in order to acheive a more harmonious existence within our shores and beyond.

I also am looking for bass player and drummer, but a guitarist (or possibly keyboardist) at this point would be great.
I write rock, pop, and punky type stuff - catchy but not poxy.
Call me on 0410 86 86 12, or email me at info@gilbert.net.au - I am based near Wollongong, but travel up to Sydney all the time. Let's get this happening!
Shaun

- Jazz school or course around Sydney -- nsax, 16/10/05 Sun
Hi everyone,
I'm a 35 yrs old sax player living in Hong Kong. I've been playing sax for something like 14-15 yrs while sax and jamming is really part of my life. I work as an engineer and project manager for living and support my family during the daytime and play music once i'm off from work. During the yrs, I'd been following 2 private teachers, I went thru alot of wood-shedding stuffs like Patterns for Jazz by Jerry Coker... however, I really found myself want to have a chance to study in a real music school, i mean i want to get some real music education and knowledge from the very basics, and a music study certificate and/or degree will "complete my life". However, I really don't find this chance in the place I live.
Now i'm lucky to have a potential job opportunity in Sydney. I'm writing a post here need your kind help and recommend any good music school around Sydney. My main interest is blues and jazz.
Thank you very much!
nsax

- The Sound Of Three Cities - MUSICIANS NEEDED -- Jimi Hodson, 11/06/05 Sat
My name is Jimi Hodson, i'm a Melbourne-based composer and performer. I'm looking for ANYBODY who plays ANY instrument to collaborate with on a project of humungous proportions. My project (The Sound Of Three Cities) involves a piece of jazz-influenced music that I plan to record in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, providing the opportunity for students or semi-proffesional musicians from all up the coast to collaborate and play on this one recording.
I am still in the process of writing out sections of the piece, but it is my intention that some of the form will be improvised, but there will be definite styles and sections. If you play jazz, latin, funk, bebop, reggae, rock, or even classical music and want to be part of this project, please don't hesitate to email me at jimi_hodson@hotmail.com, and we can discuss your style, and arrange to meet (I will be in Sydney from Sept the 14 - 17th). Obviously this project deals with improvising musicians, and it would be great to emphasise the different styles and qualities of players from all over the coast, so if you have a particular style, I'd love to hear it!
Thanks!
Jimi

He had been booked to play with the band then resident at a pub near the harbor bridge, I believe called something like "the Old Push" but I could be wrong on that. - MUSICIANS REQUIRED FOR ORIGINAL BAND-Sydney based-OR ORIGINAL BAND LOOKING FOR SINGER/GUITARIST -- david, 15/05/05 Sun
I am 26 years old and I am looking for an original band needing a singer/guitarist or guitarist.....OR .....muso's looking to start a band based in sydney.
I write and record all the music and vocals...but now i would like to get a band to play the songs(and create new ones). Alternatively I am willing to join a band and play some of yours, some of mine sort of thing.
Influences varied.
Backing vocals preferred as the vocals are in that staley/cantrell style with a touch of Page Hamilton/Patton...so harmonies are important.
Music sounds a bit like Faith No More/STP...but i can't hear it...that's just what friends tell me.
I like to think it's more like what you would hear if The Mars Volta started a band with Tool.
If you're interested call 0425 300 530

- Socio cultural assignment -- Lisa, 18/04/05 Mon
Hey, I was just wondering if anybody knew any good links that could help me with a uni assignment. I have to do a socio-cultural assignment on 19th century symphonic concerts. Basically what I'm doing is choosing a few symphonies (Beethoven 9, Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique etc.) and finding out When and where they were first performed, who conducted it, what the audience thought, what the criticism of the time was, and if anything special happened at the concert. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
thanks, Lisa
