Her cat eyes, pupils retracted to mere slits, return the girl's gaze coldly and turns, slipping back down into the hole.
Making sure she was a good distance away from the enterance, and heaves a sigh. She was tired, injured, worried and now stuck with a snobbish little know-it-all who could read minds. Hope? Sure it carried you to a certain extent, but it did not re-build buildings, it did not replace the hundreds of lives lost, it did not get them spacecraft.
She sighs again and wipes her mind of the girl. Why bother arguing? That could come later when everyone was recovered.
She rubbs her aching neck again, wearied of looking down in the gloom for any bodies, nevertheless, she does another round of the basement, flipping over pieces of scrap metal,looking for Carter.
