Subject: The Ranger Code....
In reply to: Pugs 's message, "Re: ORPA Civil War / BMG - Moonglow FAQ" on 09:12:46 04/14/02 Sun

Thie Night's Watch is built in a similar fashion Maglorius... The Night's Watch [NW] is our main stone, similar to the [TDR] stone. People on this stone are not involved with perma war.

People on the [N^W] stone are involved in the perma war and take active PvP roles in ORPA events, similar to [A^G].

Unless I'm gravely mistaken, I thought the Avatar's Guard was merely another "Way" similar to Wolf, Bear, Stag and Steward, but for the sake of game mechanics needed to be on a seperate guildstone.

As is the case in the Night's Watch, what affects our PvP group affects us all. Whilst it may be a pain in the butt sometimes (as it has become with the Civil War scenario) a lot of good comes of it as well. Prior to joining ORPA, did TDR have members of guilds other than NW regularly attending quests or other events? I know that NW has been greatly enriched by our membership in ORPA, and have gained firm friendships with several other guilds who now regularly attend our events... which enables us to run events such as the conquering of Dungeon Ice last weekend.

The tax in Moonglow is an annoyance, but whilst the bulk of TDR remains "blue" and out of the perma-war situation there is little that BMG can do to you. If you have a problem with the idea of a tax in Moonglow contact your superiors and get the Avatar's Guard to do something about it!!!

Currently there's one guild that is getting ready to challenge BMG and that appears to be The Faithful. SDP is also in the process of forming a plan of action... so the new laws in Moonglow wont last long.

The idea behind all this is to promote roleplaying. If I may take a quote from the TDR Ranger's Code found on the "Ranger Code" page under "About TDR"
Our Charter is what we live by. The Danaan Rangers is a guild that encourages roleplaying. We hold the Virtues dear and strive to keep ourselves above reproach.
So, TDR encourages roleplaying. Roleplaying is all ORPA is encouraging... despite what some may believe. ORPA is not about PvP - it's about roleplaying and interaction between guilds. You need not fight BMG, there are alternatives. You will only be taxed if you're caught in Moonglow by BMG anyway... and this would be a rarity anyway as they're a smallish guild based in Felucca.

If you cannot live with dealing with BMG should they find you in Moonglow then I'd suggest leaving ORPA. To me it's an inconvenience that I can live with, and am happy in the knowledge that the good guilds of the realm wont let this behaviour last long. Hopefully you can too.

Regards,

Moriath, Lord Commander of the Night's Watch
