Thanks everyone! Um, yeah, I have yet another version...haha, so yeah. I think I like the entire poem in future tense, instead of future then past...lmk what you guys think...

----------

I've been wishing for rain,
wanting the sky to fall bit by bit, drop by drop.
There's just too much weight
pressing down,
suspended over me,
and the collapse will come,
if I'm lucky.

Little bitty tears will collect in oceans -
only miniature,
and I wont sink when I splash around.
I'll walk on the surface,
with a little more confidence,
a little more faith.

Seeping into street cracks,
it will fill all the holes,
lifting up the settled dust,
oil,
and most toxic of all - thoughts -
and carry them all away.

The weight will break into bits,
at last,
and I can handle bits.
Winding away they'll take them -
the thoughts I regret ever thinking,
even if only thought for an instant -
the dreams where I did everything bad,
and will never feel guilty enough -
everything I cannot carry -
and they'll float away in little rivulets,
branching off of a single puddle,
each sin belonging to its own river.

The road will be clean and empty,
ready to be filled with life again.
