I agree, Lois. They would not like her if they did not like her allegory of their "lifestyle." So deep down inside, they subconsciously know what they will not admit to themselves. Remember what I said about speaking to the subconscious mind when we were posting hymns we had written. Anne Rice speaks to the subconscious mind of the homosexual, where he readily accepts the message as "true," even though his conscious mind is in disconnect, and denies it.

In fact, Anne Rice's first vampire book was a stand alone literary masterpiece. One of its chief theses was that the vampire is very self-indulgent, worldly, and materialistic. That is the root of his desire to live forever in this world. However, because this world changes, all the things he wanted to live to enjoy pass away, leaving him depressed and wanting to die. Which he wills to do and dies, despite his immortality, because his lifestyle is not what he thought it was when it was "sold" to him by another vampire.

The subsequent vampire books were an attempt to cash in financially on the popularity of the original novel. In order to do that, Rice had to deny the message of the original book and completely reverse it to give the vampires something to live for, so that they could romp through four or five more books and she could make money.

Mrs. Rice also wrote several hard core pornographic novels under pseudonyms. These books became big sellers after it was deliberately revealed that she was the author.
