Folks, what the CofC wants you to give up for Lent is your soul. But they aren't going to let you have it back.

Pay no attention to what the scriptures say. The word of the Living Oracle, Steve Veazey trumps anything that Paul, John, Jude, Peter, Moses, Ezra or Isaiah or Jeremiah ever said, because the Living Oracle is hip to the here and now, and can't be bothered with hoary old prophecies and admonistions written in Hebrew and Greek. Veazey can tell you what God wants right now. Good thing, too, because what Veazey has to say shows that every single author of the Biblical texts was wrong about anything written that contradicts Mr. Veazey's opinions.

Maybe that was why Jeffrey Lundgren's spiel was so fascinating to his followers. He, too, knew more than all the prophets of the church from Adam to Israel Smith.
