Fundamentalist members of the Community of Christ sect filed today to have the body of their founder, Joseph Smith, Jr., exhumed for forensic tests. A spokesmen for them announced, "We want to find out if there are tire tracks over him, because we believe that the hierarchy has thrown him under a bus."

When the administrative officials of the church were asked about this, the church secretary stated, "We know for a fact that Joseph Smith, Jr. was not hit by a bus at any time during his lifetime, or any time since. The current scriptures of the CofC, Selection 170, says that God will protect the prophet from being hit by a bus, so it is an article of faith for the CofC that there are no tire tracks on Mr. Smith's body."

When asked what Selection 170 was, the secretary replied that it was a revelation from God, written by a blind bus driver. The secretary added, "I know that it's a bit of digression, but I think it is spiritually uplifting to know that, by the power of God, even a blind man can drive a bus."
