Mamusz, the CofC is like the Roman Catholic Church during the Middle Ages, and to huge extent, still is. Churchmen and prelates were very angry when vernacular translations of the Catholic Bible came out. When the parishioners could quote to the priest that St. Paul condemned "forbidding to marry" (i.e. enforced celibacy) and condemned the "forbidding of meats" (i.e. fish on Fridays,) these priests and prelates were as furious as O.C. Henson when he was challenged by Richard Price at his little tete a tete with the Enoch Hill congregation.

Price wailed, "But the church is founded on the sciptures!"

And O.C. replied [I still recall the chill I felt when I heard his voice saying this]: "And I am telling you it is NOT!"

So in the end, it doesn't matter what scripture the CofC quotes to you. They will tell you anything to get you to drink the koolade.
