The Community of Christ has been pushing "diversity" for quite a while now.

It's boring to have all ministers the same color. Better to mix them up.

It's boring to have all ministers the same nationality. Better to mix them up.

But look at same sex marriage. In encouraging "diversity" in sexual cohabitation arrangements, the church is actually destroying "diversity" in the family. The reason is that two parents of the same sex are "the same." Traditional marriage is "diverse" to the extent that the child has one parent of one sex, and one parent of the other sex. Same sex arrangements deprive the adopted children of these unions of the parent of the opposite sex.

A man may be as soft and cuddly as he wants to be, and that is not a crime. But he will never be a mother. And a woman can be as butch as she wants to be, but she will never be a father.

But the CofC is so radical and politicized that it does not take criticism well, if at all; hence the declaration that those who disagree with it are "sick." There has to be some excuse for the CofC dealership to avoid having to do any self-reflection.

NB. For those who do not want to engage in self-reflection, here are the most popular excuses:

It's racist to criticize the CofC.
It's sexist to criticize the CofC.
It's homophobic to criticize the CofC.
It's bigotry to criticize the CofC.
It's mental illness to criticize the CofC.

(We are back to the Dark Ages when it was death-defying heresy to criticize the church.)

One no longer needs to go to Sunday School. One can learn all these tactics for defending one's religion from watching CNN, or MSNBC, or even FOX News.
