Lois, the CofC hierarchy always parses very carefully any language describing its actions. It does not want to telegraph accidentally information that it does not want to get out.

Like the murder suspect, who, without being informed of his brother's death, says, "Growing up, I had a brother." The hierarchy is always on the alert to avoid foolish slips of this sort. When it doesn't want to discuss something, it usually offers sneers that the person asking the question doesn't deserve an answer.

If you look back, John's unfortunate response to the challenge was the sneer that he can't be bothered to read anything that Price wrote. The unfortunate part is that the sneer is so poorly phrased and ill thought out that it implies that John doesn't really believe that there is anything from the other side that documents any alleged lies. Sort of makes you think he subconsciously believes that the information doesn't exist because there were no such lies.

I halfway thought that Matt would answer the alternative challenge and say that Jesus was:

FEEDING THE FIVE THOUSAND....
Running an unlicensed catering service, using poor sanitation, and procuring foodstuffs from unapproved sourced (minors.)

THE ENTRY INTO JERUSALEM ON PALM SUNDAY
Having a parade without a permit

DRIVING OUT THE MONEY CHANGERS
Interfering with interprovincial commerce.
Disturbing the peace
False witness (by calling Temple officials "thieves.")
Impersonating an imperial treasury official.

THE PRAYER IN GETHSEMANE
Staying out after curfew
Criminal trespass

PETER SLICING OFF THE SERVANT'S EAR
Accessory to
Possession of an unlicensed weapon.
Assault on a police officer.
Committing a hate crime.

Organizing "domestic terrorism"

KEEPING THE DISCIPLES UP ALL NIGHT
Illegal hazing activities

THE SEAMLESS GARMENT
Wearing unapproved underwear not made up to national clothing standards -- without any tags, no less.

and of course
HAVING NO VISIBLE MEANS OF SUPPORT, NO JOB, AND "NO PLACE TO LAY HIS HEAD."
vagrancy

You see, if you really want to nail someone, you can find something. Any good socialist state that is really into managing the affairs of its citizens would have no problem charging Jesus with the only capital crime recognized by a socialist state -- the crime of "resisting the state."

George

P.S. Enjoy this "potential spam."
