John, how old are you?

You have to remember that "Leave it to Beaver" was a TV show. As such, it resembled real life only to the degree that the furniture on the set and the actor's wardrobes were purchased from current retail outlets. In fact, because the show was television, the baleful problems of the mass media's effect on the general population were inherent in the show itself. For instance, until television, children younger than 6 or 7 had no idea that parents talked in private about how to raise them. "Leave it to Beaver" isn't the solution, John. It's a miniscule part of the problem.

A lot happened during the 1960's, John. But apparently then, as now, you are asleep.

If you are into fiction, John, watch John Carpenter's film "They Live."

The subway graffito on the wall had the theme of the movie:
"They Live. We Sleep."

What were they showing on Canadian TV when you were a kid? It seems to have affected you, certainly.

But, it seems that like Cassandra, my vindication is soon to come, based upon what is happening due to bad decisions made by the American people. Watching the place fall down around my ears isn't going to make me feel good about having been "right," when I see my neighbors starving along with me. If you think WWII and the Great Depression were serious, try having both of them at the same time.

George
