Subject: Move Over Lehi -- Here's Comes the New Prophet

ABOUT DREAMS

I recently read the dream of Lehi's that was repeated to his son Nephi in the Book of Mormon. I realize that the scriptures, particularly the Book of Mormon, are considered to be a product of their own century, and of very little specific value to anybody not living in the particular era in which they were written. By my estimation, the following dream probably occurred between forty and thirty years ago, so in the judgment of current theologians, this would be a "happening" dream, unlike Lehi's which (although officially divinely inspired) is pretty much treated like a Mother Goose rhyme these days.

Here's one from the literature regarding what goes on in the mind:

Back in the early 1970's, before the homosexual activists forced the APA to redraw their rules, declaring it unethical for a psychiatrist to try to treat a homosexual, this is one of the things that came up during that sort of treatment.

The patient was a 22-year-old male homosexual who had dropped out of an Ivy League school (that explains the ability to afford a psychiatrist, I guess) and attempted suicide. In one session, the patient described a vivid dream that he had a few days before.

The patient had dreamed that he was in an alien environment (some other planet, dimension, or distant future - the patient was not sure himself where he was.) He dreamed that he was some alien being. The patient described the creature as "a sort of two-legged llama. He and his male companion lived in an isolated compound far from any urban area. The compound was surrounded by a wall.

The patient identified the general mood of the dream as fear. There was a creature loose in the area that was a sort of Frankenstein creation by another individual or being called "The Father Creator." This scientist of sorts had created a new life form that was female. The interviewer abbreviated the description of the thing as some sort of human-sized therapod -- "lots of teeth and claws," The major difference between the creature the patient described and an ordinary dinosaur was that she not only had a tail, but on her tail she had a stinger, like a scorpion. The creature had killed her creator by stinging him in the eye and had gone on a general rampage. The fear resulted from the patient's vague fear that the creature's arrival was imminent, and that she had such powerful legs, that leaping over the wall would be an easy feat. There was no reported resolution that occurred in the dream.

Now, although I have my own idea of what this stuff represents, rather than analyze this for everybody, as I usually do nearly everything I post I'll let anybody who wants to comment on what this poor guy's dream meant. I know that we are all messed up in one way or another, but this particular nightmare sounds too tied in to the fact of the patient's homosexuality to be a coincidence.

I strongly suspect, though, that "affirmation" wouldn't have fixed whatever was wrong with this person. Those who think that the creature represents the Christian Church, however, may disagree with me on that point.

Tell you what. After about two weeks or so, after everybody who wants to comment on this has a chance to say something, then I'll give my input. I will not comment on anyone else's posts in this thread -- I will only give my own interpretation of this dream. And if anyone comments on my interpretation, I will not respond to that, either. This is just a presentation of the type of prophecy that has taken the place of the Book of Mormon in modern RLDS/CofC theology.
