Yeah, Lois. In that case, the aliens become "God." Do you remember the silly Van Dannken book from the 70's called "Chariots of the Gods?" And people who claim that they are too intelligent and educated to believe anything the Book of Mormon says eat that stuff up.

My point was that the postChristians want to hang on to the trappings of Christianity, but those are useless to anyone who prefers the Christ of Josephus over the Christ of the Bible. In the very old movie "Things to Come," based on H.G. Wells' novel of the same name, a tribal chieftain is shown riding in a topless motorcar pulled by horses. Since civilization had collapsed, there was no longer any machinery or fuel. The engine was long since gone. The chief proudly stated, "Once upon a time, this car could travel ONE HUNDRED MILES in a day!" The ardent supporters of the postChristian churches have a prayer, preach a sermon, and then say, "You know, when the Christians used to do this, they'd convert a hundred people and baptize them in a single day!" But as in the case of the horsedrawn motorcar, in the postChristian churches, the Power is long since gone. But they can enjoy the fine handtooled leather upholstery!
