Hi George.

I do know of several same sex unions that have taken place. However about a year ago the Priesthood of the Community of Christ was given a directive to not preside at any same sex unions any longer.

In 2013 we will be meeting to have our first national conference. There are only two items on the agenda. One to support same sex couples in committed relationship and to allow Ordination in the Priesthood for men and women who are part of same sex couples.

Do you know any same sex couples in totally committed relationships? Well I do. I have blessed a precious child of two women who had a little boy through artificial insemination. That was one of the sweetest blessings I have ever taken part in. There is NO sin in a sweet little child. Would you have denied his blessing?

I belong to PFLAG....Parents, Friends, of Lesbians and Gays. I am also a member of GALA and the Welcoming Community. You can google those if you do not know them.

If our agenda passes at the national conference I will be one of the first to step to the front and join the Mothers of that little boy in wedlock. I am looking forward to that!

The men and women in the Houston area that are gays and lesbians are teachers, nurses, CPA. Liberians, etc etc. They work, they play and they worship and love God just as we do.

I am not afraid to answer your questions and will do so as honestly as I can. However, I do not want to come here and be treated as a leper. And I will not talk down to you or treat you in that way either. I only came here now to address the misinformation you were given.

I really feel sorry for people like Lois who after twenty plus years are still hurting and can't seem to move on in their spiritual life. You are all in my prayers.

Joanne
