Steve Veazey has made a grave and arrogant mistake. He says,

"Also, compare the full text of Isaiah 61 and Luke 4:18–19. According to Luke, Jesus left out the phrase “and the day of vengeance of our God.” Jesus was showing how to responsibly interpret scripture through his intimate knowledge of God’s loving heart and intent."

Isaiah 61

1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

Luke 4

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the broken- hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and the recovering of sight to the blind; to set at liberty them that are bruised;
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
------

The reason Jesus left that out is not because "he was responsibly interpreting scripture", like the c-not-of-c is constantly proclaiming by denying the existence of sin, or Satan, or any such thing. Jesus was letting us know that this prophesy is not all fulfilled at once. The first part of the prophesy was fulfilled with Christ's coming to earth to dwell with us, die on the cross, and be resurrected. The part he left out, and the day of vengeance of our God; is still yet to be fulfilled. Steve Veazey et al. need to read Revelation and the rest of the scriptures and stop picking out just the things they like to hear. That is referred to as itchy ears.

H-8 Interfaith Relations Committee Report

(H-8) "The most troublesome text for the Christian community regarding other religious traditions is to be found in Acts 4:12. This text makes exclusive claims to salvation through Jesus Christ and him alone. This text has tended to foster prejudice toward not only Jews but all other religious claims as well because of its exclusivity. This text is best understood within the context of the sermon preached by Peter in the company of John and others. It should not be universalized and become a framework for either missional or theological purposes."
