Mamusz, we have been too kind to John. John, and Wally, were (as you know) once moderators of the Community of Christ forum on the CofC board. If someone posted something that the moderators disagreed with, they just made it disappear. When John, Matt, and/or Wally posted things here we didn't like, we took issue with them, and at least provided an opportunity for them to justify their remarks. They were miffed with us because we rejected their explanations as inadequate justification -- they assumed we just didn't understand their arguments and didn't want to.

Had the moderators let me post my concerns about W. Grant McMurray's lackadaisical attitude toward ordaining homosexuals and performing same-sex (or any sex) shacking up ceremonies, and get it out of my system, I might still belong to the CofC. However, their refusal even to let me speak was the proximal cause for my resigning my membership.

Believe me, my posts in the eliminated thread at the CofC were polite. So were the posts of those who disagreed with me and tried to explain the church's position. But the moderators not only erased my posts, they erased the entire thread. It was verboten.

Nothing is verboten here. That's the problem for John. The CofC likes to have forbidden topics. It just wants to be the one making the decisions on what will be forbidden, and what won't.

BTW, Mamusz, did you ever see the old 1970's made-for-TV movie called "Secrets"? It starred Roy Thinnes and (I think) Leslie And Warren, or a similar actress. Secrets are part of what Jesus was talking about when he said, "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free."

I know that Jesus said, "Shake the dust off your feet," too, but I don't recall that he said that one should sound a trumpet before doing it.

George

"Flossie, you shouldn't be so cross."

"Well I am! I'm never going to speak to them again. And I'm going to tell them so every time I see them."
