Doctrine and Covenants, Section 153

7 My servant Harold W. Cackler is honorably released from his responsiblities as a counselor to the Presiding Bishop. He should be allowed to retire and be afforded the honor of superannuation, although he should be free to serve in the office of bishop as his time and circumstances permit.

8 To fill this vacancy and to complete the organizing of the Presiding Bishopric, Ray E. McClaran is called as a counselor to the Presiding Bishop and should be ordained and set apart to that office.

9 Let my word be preached to the bruised and the brokenhearted as well as those who are enmeshed in sin, longing to repent and follow me. Let the truths of my gospel be proclamed as widely and as far as the dedication of the Saints especially through the exercise of their temporal stewardship will allow. My Spirit is reaching out to numerous souls even now and there are many who wil respond if you, my people, will bear affirmative testimony of my love and my desires for all to come unto me.

D&C 153:7-9b. Community of Christ edition (the only "bible" that contains these verses.)

Pay particular attention to:
"bruised and the brokenhearted"
"those who are enmeshed in sin"
"affirmative testimony."

After all these years, we find out that "bruised and brokenhearted" means avowed homosexuals (and their families) who are disappointed that they cannot be ordained.

"those who are enmeshed in sin" means those who are despondent and who have been falsely led (by wicked fundamentalists, along with most of the rest of the planet) to believe that their despondency is due to the sinfulness of their alternate lifestyle.

"stewardship" means "Give lots of money, but don't ask where it's going. Or if you do ask, be dumb enough to believe the answer.

"affirmative testimony" means the statements of anybody who is willing to get up in church and announce that Jesus swung from the rafters of the temple with a sword to tell them that it's A-o.k. to practice homosexuality in any form necessary to bring happiness.

I'm not sure what the thing is about Mr. Cackler being put out to pasture, but perhaps Mr. Cackler was expected to object to women's ordination, homosexual ordination, and "shacking up" ceremonies, ao the CofC god needed to hustle him out of the hierarchy without delay.

George
