I have a sportjet 120xr -1995, at 3/4 throttle everything is fine at full throttle it looses power, the engine seems fine, the impellar seems fine any ideas??

I have a Sea Rayder Sportjet 90. Engine runs fine, boat flies if someone sits in the bow seat, while I drive. BUT, if they sit next to me, the bow never lowers no matter how much poer is applied. Any ideas? Checked underneath, everthing seems fine.

Just bought a 1994 searayder. When I took it the the river it started right off but would never run more than 1 minute and then it dies. when I pulled it up out of water, it started just fine and ran. I know I shouldn't and won't start it out of water. The guy I bought it from said it may be the idle is off. could that be it?

I have a 94 Bay liner Jazz with a 120 mercury sport jet that i recently ran up on a sand bar or should i say MUD BAR. as soon as i felt us run ground i shut off the key. we had to push and pull our way out about 20 feet or so in shin deep mud and ankle deep water. well after a hour we Finlay got out i turned the bout on in about 2 foot of water we walked the boat out until we got to about 4 foot then we jumped in we then idled out of the shallows. as soon as we got into open waters i hit the gas and nothing would not even come close to plane it felt like we were dragging something every now and then i would try to get a little more power and nothing when i would throttle up it almost sounded a little like the impeller was spinning free?? we idled back to the dock (about 10 miles away)LOL to make my day better we ran out of gas a half a mile away from the dock and here is the weird thing the steering locked up could not move the wheel. WTF did i do. OR CAN IT BE JUST PACKED WITH MUD

Hi, I have a 1996 Sea Rayder. I live on the weeki wachee river in florida. I have to use idle speed on the river and it's okay. Occasionally I go out into the gulf and when I speed up I have trouble with the steering.It wants to turn left and I have to hold on tight to the steering wheel. Is that usual? I know it wanders with slow speed but thought it would be easier to steer with speed. Am I wrong? Is there something I can do to correct this. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks, Anna

Another season a new problem.
1996 SeaRay Sea Rayder F14 with a Mercury SportJet 120XR. It's a 2 stroke, 4 cylinder, 2 carb, oil injected engine. The engine was originally a Crysler Force outboard, bought by Mercury and sold as a SportJet in various types of jet boats.
Anyways. It was running OK last year. The only problem was cold starting. I needed a shot of starter fluid in each carb then it start right up and restart without a problem.
Based on recommendations from a couple of mechanics I performed the following maintenance over the winter. I installed water fuel seperator filter and a primer bulb. In that order from the fuel tank.
So here is the problem. First time in the water after this maintenance, pumped the primer bulb and it started right up ! Ran great. I ran it up river for a while, then shut it down. Then it wouldn't start. It would kick once or twice but not start.
The primer bulb was firm, starting fluid didn't work. I removed the plugs, they were not wet. I left the plugs out, cranked the engine, let it sit, put new plugs in. No luck. I did notice if I squeezed the primer bulb firmly gas would flow out of the carb overflow.
I finally got a started by disconnecting fuel line between the fuel filter. Let the gas run out. Reconnected it and the engine started.
I managed to get back to the boat ramp. Shut is down and once again it wouldn't start.
My guesses, are maybe something wrong in the float or inlet needle? Maybe the primer bulb is causing too much fuel pressure to remain in the line?
Any and all thoughts are welcome. Thanks in advance !

I am looking for size dimensions for a Mercury Sport Jet 120 pump and motor assembly
I have a 92 ultranautics jet star with a 60 hp suzuki motor and pump(not sure if the pump is actually suzuki or not) The boat is not fast enough and I want to speed it up a bit. I like the fact it is a small boat because I can still take people with me when I go boating and I can tow it with a smaller vehicle.
I would like to find out if a Merc Sport jet 120 xr will fit in my boat. I need dimensions for the width length and height as well as specifics on the mounting surfaces of the pump and motor.

We have a 94 jet boat w/90hp mercury sport jet. I have a couple issues:
1) It seems that this boat is NOT going as fast as it should...it struggles to get to 30mph with only one person in it on a calm day in the bay. Seems to me that it should be able to go a lot better than that. Is there something that can be inhibiting the power?
2) Speaking of power - end of last season - it started skipping at idle, inconsistantly. We just pulled it for the season, winterized it, and left it for then. This year we took the boat out for the 1st time and throttled up, it took off as it had last year...(again not as much power as I think it shoudl have - but consistent with the amount it had been putting out last year). After about 5 minutes we started to slow down....and we had NOT touched the throttle. Tried a few times - with same result, it just did not want to go anywhere.
We're at a loss as we are not that familiar with this type of boat - and all marine mechanics are book too far out to look at this in time for us to be using it by 4th of july.
HELP!!!!!!
Could it be a fuel issue? (Also want to mention that the cutting out and inconsistent idle started shortly after filling it with fuel last year)
Any input or suggestions or where to start looking would be appreciated.

Help, i have a 1996 Sanger V210 with a 5.7 315hp i changed the oil and the filter was a generic, now i have tried a Fram P-5 P-11, Delco 1218, Delco 454, with oil still pooring out the side of the filter..............has anybody any info on this?? I called the local boat shop they said Delco 1218.......but it still poors out

I have a '94 Sport Jet 90 Baja Blast. It runs very well but it seems to have excess vibration. It tops out at 37 which I think is pretty good. The vibration is more pronounced as the RPM decreases being most notable and excessive at idle. Any ideas. Thanks!

I have a 1997 175 sport jet. I purchased a searayder with a bad engine. Had it bored .020 and installed new pistons, rings, gaskets, oil injection pump drive gear and oil injection pump. I premixed fuel in the tank and ran it at idle for approx 5-10 minutes with a hose hooked up to the flush port. No alarms sounding at this time. I took the boat to the river to run it as per the breaking in guidelines. After about 15-20 minutes of operation under 3000 RPM the oil injection system alarm went off. It seemed to have an engine speed type of frequency to it. After returning from the river, checked oil flow, and none existed from the pump. I removed pump, checked drive rotation, it was intermittent at best. Looking into the drive shaft bore, the gear appears to be shot, it also does not appear to have enough of the gear "showing" to drive the shaft properly. Why would this have damaged the gear in such a short time of operation? Why does it not appear to have enough gear meshing? The gear part number that was installed was 43-14513A2.
I have physically by-passed the oil injection system and have changed to premix, which seems to be the common concensus. Is there any bypass of the injection electrical system? How do you "fool" the TKS ECM? The sensor for the pump drive is supposed to read 1-5 Volts according to the test proceedures in the manual. Do these voltages continue to rise with engine RPM, (normal operation)? I would like to keep the TKS operational due to the over-temperature notification and the fuel enrichment function. The beep,beep,beep,beep is driving me nuts(er).

The boat is very clean with low hours.

I have a 1996 Bayliner Jazz with a 120 mercury sport jet. The motor runs smooth but the boat won't plane with two people in it unless you put one in the very front. I had Bayliner put a new impeller and sleeve in it but it still won't plane any better. Any ideas?

Anyone experience a sudden loss of performance with no warning? I run about for about 2 hours and suddenly seems that I am running on 3 cyl's. W/o touching the throttle, it goes from 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm and then back again. Fuel in the inline canister (just changed)looks clean. New plugs and the shop said it ran like a new motor. They test with a water hose at idle. Runs just as bad as before I took it in to the shop. It is a '98 175 hp.

1996 Sportjet 120XR. Was idling rough. I rebuilt both of the carbs. She started up fine, idles much better except she is idling much faster.
I backed off the idle stop screw but the tower shaft doesn't move any further (throttle cable needs to be loosened ?) ..
I am not sure what has happened to cause the idling speed to change.

I have a merc 90 sport jet engin 1994, it has never given me any trouble, last summer i took it to a lake and the problems began.the engin used to come back to idle after only a few seconds, now when I put it in nuetral it takes about a minute to a minute and a half to idle down to normal.also and I do not know if these two things are related, but after it is on plane for 10-20 seconds it seems to lose power. Could this be cavitation, it also loses power in turns. thanx

The automatic electric choke on my engine does not work properly. I checked and there is power to the choke and the spring is intact. However, on the back side of the carb where the buttererfly rod protrudes, there is not a spring attached or any mechanism that would close the choke. What makes the choke close and open? I have a 93 sport jet 90 that I just rebuilt the motor on. I took good notes for the wiring as I took it off except I left the main ignition wire out of the notes. The manual that I have does not even show the wire and I have found some other descrepancies in the manual as well. I need to know where this green ignition wire goes.

Hello i just bought a Searay F16 with a 120 hp Merc sport jet.
It works just fine up to 3500 rpm after that it starts to cavitate, the engine is over reving and the boat whant go any faster (top speed is like 20 mph now). I checked the impeller and it seems fine, the wear ring is not new but it´s not that bad.
Any suggestions.

I have a 1995 Regal Rush with 90HP Mercury Jet. I find that it takes a long time to get up onto the plane. Once it is planng it gets along quickly but it just seems to struggle getting out of the water. To start with I'm a rookie, this is my first jet drive.
It's a 1995 Sport Jet 90 & I live in Ontario Canada. I bought it late last summer and it ran fine. But as soon as I put it the water this summer something was wrong.
At low throttle it seems to be OK, but if I try to accelerate quickly OR once I get past about 3/4 throttle it "sounds" like the engine is no longer under load (almost like cavitation in a prop boat). The drive jet drive is still working, but its slower than a 10hp aluminum boat.
I don't think I sucked up sand at the boat launch, but I guess it is possible. The tunnel is clear and the engine itself seems to be running fine.
I have a repair manual, but I don't want to start tearing it apart until I'm reasonably sure what the problem is, or at least how to check it.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Greetings Fellow Enthusiasts! I just bought my first boat, and we're having a great time with it. It's a 1996 Bayliner Jazz Jet Boat with the Mercury 120 HP 2-stroke motor to push her through the water. I want to get more speed out of her. Is there someplace I can go for a better impellar, or other bolt-on parts? Any advice at all is greatly appreciated! I look forward to hearing from fellow performance boat enthusiasts!

I just aquired a 76 Hondo with a jaquzi jet but no engine. There is some sort of mounting system that attaches to the stringers. It looks like there might be some sort of rails that attach to the frame that is there. can anyone help me figure out what I have and what I need to get a motor bolted up in this boat?

We just bought this boat. It's a 1977, 17 foot, 8 passenger jet boat. The title says "silve" under the maker. I've found silverline boats that were made during the same time, but look nothing like our boat? Does anyone know who might make this boat?

I just got a 94 sea rayder 90hp. I need help in a couple of questions.
1- The owner told me that it has a self flushing system, that under no circumstances start the unles is in the water. What can I do to start the boat at least once a month to ensure it operates good.
2- Is the Penzoil semi synthetic blend good for it.
