Subject: Mercury Sport Jet Owners

I now have a Place Diverter Trim System available for your Mercury powered sport jet. This will improve performance, with the ride plate there's more planning area creating additional lift. It mounts to the pump, nothing mounts to the hull. Special Price of $595.00.

My 90 hp Mercury sport jet has no fire at all 3 cylinders, I'v followed the instruction in Mercury/Mariner of Seloc to measure the ohm of the trigger, they're in the range (1200-1400 ohm), but I measure the voltage approx 1.7 vol (maunal book 4 vol), So this trigger is defective or not?

try disconnecting the rev limiter that was the cause of my similar problem

They are also famous for the magnets on the flywheel coming off and the ignition not firing properly or at all because the trigger isn't there anymore.

I saw this posting and it peaked my interest. I have a 1998 Bayliner Jazz with a Mercury 175 HP Sport Jet and I am looking for a trim setup to bring the bow down and limit porpoising. Will this system work? Thanks Tom Weaver

Waiting for info from them on if it will affect 180's/360's etc if left in the down position????

Hi jason
finger trouble. if yu didnt get my previous msg. just to
say stop immediately if yu get four intermittent beeps
from engine warning system, otherwise it will cost a new
shortblock as mine did. oilpump drive failure. Hope you
are enjoying your toy, I really like the boat but feel it
could perform a little better considering the power to
weight ratio. From what Ive read mercury dont recommend
changing the impellor, but the jetski boys seem to have
an array of race impellors they can fit. If you learn of
any improvements to the performance of our boats would
appreciate it passed on at above email adds. I have a 1999
XR2175 bought new.....regards john

I have a 1995 Regal Rush with 90HP Mercury Jet. I find that it takes a long time to get up onto the plane. Once it is planng it gets along quickly but it just seems to struggle getting out of the water. Is there anything I can do to increase performance while accelerating without changing to a larger HP motor? Please reply to my email as well if possible hgale@bigpond.net.au

Pull the spark plug and check the bottom cylinder. If it is filling up with gas that will prevent the engine from running or even starting, until the gas is drained out. If that is what you find it is probably a diaphram from the fuel pump which has gone bad and is filling the lower cylinder so it can not compress.

That seems slow as my 1993 bayliner Jazz with the Sportjet 90 goes better than 40 with similar load. Did you verify with a GPS as dash speedo is too inaccurate. Also check for compression on all 4 cylinders looking for approx 140 psi or better. You may have one dead cylinder.

good luck...

HELLLPPP!! So we bought a 96 regal Rush today...took it on a water test last week, ran fine then, It ran at the dealer today, alone, and on a hose with the only exception being that the ignition switch wouldn't stop the engine. After a few minutes in the shop un hooking and re-attatching wires it seemed to be working fine. Tonight when we put it in the water it took a second to start then ran fine for a whole 15 minutes, then died after we hit a wake and barely started a to get us back to shore, When we were trying to start it, it wouldn't turn over at all, then it would run for a few minutes and die again. We took it out of the water and it wouldn't start at all. We tried to rinse the grate to see if the intake was cloged and that didn't fix the problem. The dealer is quite a ways away from our house so any IDEAS on things to try here????
