Subject: sportjet 120 - high end power loss

I have a sportjet 120xr -1995, at 3/4 throttle everything is fine at full throttle it looses power, the engine seems fine, the impellar seems fine any ideas??

Mine runs fine for an hour or so until it heats up and then has a high speed miss. I think it is the stator or coil because my flywheel is new.

the problem is that the carbs are not balanced. take the airbox off, put the throttle lever to wide open, look inside the carbs,(mirror required)the throttle plates should both be exactly parrallel to the air flow. the problem you describe is a condition of the plates going beyond center. (they start closing)thus restricting performance. also make sure the timing is 30degrees btdc at 5000rpm
