Dunne needs to put wins on the table and show that the program can do it. He has the work ethic that was lacking in the previous regime, but one has to question his ability based on results. There are many issues that kept us from winning games last season, and some were not just players. If one comes to mind, it has been poor end game management, much less game preparation. Now Dunne has three more years to run. But only two to turn it around and he will have to do it with players we all know. Remember turning it around does not mean winning the league, but at least gettting to 500 in the MAAC. If he can't do it his third year should be a lame duck year. If he does single digit wins this season he will be reviled, but still have the 2nd year to turn it around. I have been more concerned with his strategies and game handlings than the recruiting. Lets hope he at least shows some changes this season.

Strongly agree with Peacock's intial statement ( but could debate some that followed). It's the status of the Program that is key when JD's tenure is up. Even if he overachieves this year with a questionable roster it's still the status of the Program. Peacock put a good measuring stick with mid-pack MAAC as a reasonable expectation.

To Loyal's points. I agree that we need a Conley or another other major force to change expectations. Could come from the current roster but I am not overly optimistic. With regard to the AD, I can assure you that he doesn't go to bed worrying about JD and staff. He has an understaffed department to run, 19 sports to administer, budget, fundraising considerations, positions to fill, compliance, NLI's, etc. It's a big job but I believe that this guy is more than up to the task.

Think he also has a favorable opinion of JD and staff. However, this will not prevent him from doing what he has to do when the time arrives.

And yes, I agree with the extension that JD received. JD is well respected within the school and the MAAC coaching community. He also seems to have the respect of the players. He and Morton do know the game and, if you recall, decent resumes. In my view he's the right guy for a tough job in a tough environment. If you reply he hasn't proven himself you are absolutely correct. May not, and that would be a shame because IMO the guy has what it takes.

Winning solves all problems and losing is always second guessed. That's the story of the profession as well as many of the posts on this Board. Just a fact of life,

Coach will not win if he does a poor job, even if he has talent. Wins do not just happen, as your post infers, because we or he or everyone wants it to be. Its a vicious cycle SPC is in and I believe it will take a very good head coach to break it.. Perhaps Dunne is the right guy and then again maybe not..I would think he will need to win more than 10 games this season to have any credibility..IMHO.
