The mare snorts, hearing the wolves also, but smiles gently at the filly. "Do not worry. They won't harm you." She nuzzles her, then says, "You are hungry? Let's see. I don't suppose you are old enough to eat grass." She pauses, thinking, then continues. "I don't know of anyone who has had foals lately." She rises, to go look for a mare with newborn foals.
