In reply to: Scullystar 's message, "CC talks about the possiable 9th season of The X-Files *Slight spoilers*" on 20:11:18 05/07/01 Mon

is going to "die" this time around?? If it's Mulder yet *AGAIN* I'm afraid I'll just burst into laughter, rather than be shocked or upset. They've played that card one time too many.
Maybe Doggett will "die". If CC *TRULY* regards Doggett as the current male lead of the series, that would be only fitting, because the season always ends with the male lead (Mulder in all previous seasons) either "dead", in a mental hospital, having his office burned down, abducted by aliens or whatever.
The point is, it's hard to regard any "death" as permanent on XF. So many people (not just Mulder but also Krycek, CSM, etc.) have "died" only to be shown again that it just doesn't resonate.
I will continue to hope CC and the Fox execs negotiate their way to ending it as a TV series after this year and let it continue as a movie franchise. But it is interesting to note that, despite the fact that "everybody" seems convinced that if they do a ninth season it will be completely Mulderless, the two people who would actually know (CC and DD) both seem to have left the door open to the possiblity of an occasional Mulder appearance.
