I think you have to cast those who are right for the kind of show you have. You know it wouldn't look right if a person with red hair and feckles was cast as one of the Cosby children now would it? [Although a couple of those girls were a bit on the pale side. ] I think the majority of FBI agents and government conspirators are your average middle aged white male.

It would be nice to have a variety of people cast in major roles in XF. But they did have Kersh and X. That kind of broke the monotony a bit. Then there is Cassandra and Marita and you could put Suzanne M in there as well.

I do think that more than any other show the X Files casts the hugest variety of people in guest roles. I suppose that due to the huge variety of types that appear in XF it is natural that they should seek out alot of different actors to play them. Just as a *small* example we have had. .....the African professor woman [and man]in AMor Fati along with all her helpers, the little people in Humbug, all the asian people and the detective in that very weak and barely rememberable show about the Chinese lotto game, the sheriff in Home,The Japanese doctor who operated on Cassandra,Albert Hosteen and family, Krycek the russian and if you want to get really picky....Skinner is bald.

Not to mention the fact that XF has *portrayed* 2 that I know of, gay couples both black and white, male and female; plus the jewish family in that dirt monster show, the snake handlers, the people of En Ami who don't believe in getting medical help for their loved ones, CSM who chooses to smoke like a chimney etc etc.So... not only does XF hire different actors but it also *portrays* many different types of ethnic, cultural, hobbyist and religious groups in the community. Some might not be portrayed in a very good light but at least they are portrayed. And there is usually some good thing about them. XF is never totally denegrating of a particular group.

I'm sure that we can pick out alot more minority groups if we go through all the episodes. I don't think other shows can boast such variety of people either as permanent cast members, supports or guests. XF has them all. It just depends on the show you have. I don't think it is necessary to have token equality but if anyone insists then I think XF passes the muster hands down. Pick out some other shows and see how they rate in comparison.
