I do so agree with you about Mulder's comments. I don't think he was being snide, and I don't think you are reading way too much into it. Mulder's comment of "Is snake handling any harder to buy into than communion wafers or transubstantiation?", and "I'm just saying that your faith and O'Conner's seems to be based on the same book" seemed to me to be sincere observations, even unspoken questions, like you said. For the first time his religious intolerance didn't come across as that at all to me, but instead led me to believe he's not being intolerant, but revealing his ignorance of religion. In his own anal way he's asking her about her religion. Before, in other episodes like Revelations I think he was being intolerant and sarcastic, but not any more. It ties in with Orison, too, and his questions of does her God speak to her, and what does He say to her. I didn't think he was being sarcastic then either, and was sure I was the only person that felt that way.

I haven't read any spoilers since AF, so didn't know of the supposed change of religious attitude he's supposed to have now. What brought it about? His experiences in AF?

Chantal
