At least Terms was more like a Sci.Fi-Cinemax-HBO brand of show. The thing with the snakes started out more realistic--real snakes rattling, etc. The effects were more subtle and not as obvious as in Terms.

You're right--they needed more time to cover the plot better--I missed the pony thing--what that all about?
I think Mulder has always had religious beliefs but kept things to himself--the scene from an early ep. where he is in a church, holding Samantha's picture, and crying leads me to believe that he was raised in a faith but that he has fallen away with major questions after her abduction. I can't help but wonder how much his self-blame has led him to this point. Maybe he has been too focused on EBE's and never thought about the actual presence of evil??

He has always blamed himself for Samantha, maybe he felt that the snake test was just another indication to him that he failed to protect her. Now that Cassandra has told him the aliens are evil, maybe he sees things differently--evil all around sort of thing?

The flip flop of who I was good and evil at the end was a surprise--snakes (or monsters) coming out of throats is a major gross-out for me. I never could sleep after watching any of the Alien movies if they were on at night. Same sort of thing for this ep. Didn't sleep too well Sunday night.
