Subject: Different perspective on the "7 years" comment

I think when Mulder asked his question, he meant it at face value. A romantic relationship can stir up a lot more feelings (resulting in a lot more problems) than a platonic one. For those of you married gals out there- haven't you wanted to whack your husband more often than you've wanted to whack your best friend? Mulder was asking "In this specific case, do you think romantic troubles were the source of the attempt to beat eachother's brains out?"

Where it takes a turn is SCULLY's response. "Not even I'd be so farfetched." I think it's kind of a tongue-in-cheek comment-- "No, Mulder. They're partners, how could they be romantically involved? It just wouldn't make sense!"-- sarcastic, self-depricating, but more subtle.

I don't think the comment was hinting that Mulder and Scully have a special relationship because they're romantically involved. WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT THEM??

I L-O-V-E-D the Mulder and Scully dopplegangers. I don't have the ep on tape, so could someone answer a question for me? Between the Kansas City partners, who looked worse the Mulder look-alike or the Scully-? Between M&S who looked worse?

hairytoes, wondering if anyone else is willing to theorize that it wasn't the energy of the dopplegangers that caused all the violence, but the energy of all the UST :-)
