An entire episode almost full of a beautifully open & emotional Scully. Moments exploded instead of compressed. An intimate, tender climax between Mulder & Scully. Colleen Flynn playing an emotional & spiritual guide rather than the geographical one she played in 'Detour'. Gorgeous music by Mark Snow, with a recurring, heart-breakingly melancholy piano motif. Camera movements motivated by feeling rather than action. Colleen's sensual, tactile home sharply contrasting with Scully's austere apartment.

This is one of my favourite ever eps & yet my dilemma is that I can't seem to do any sort of literal analysis. Probably for the same reason that I could never critique Maya Deren's 'At Land'. It just makes me feel warm, sad & gooey inside. I can't be any more objective than that. Please feel free to post a 'what are you on about!' or 'pull yourself together!' reply.
