I have to confess - I have only just worked out that the title of this is Murder spelt backwards. Very slow on the uptake, there! Anyway, this ep was a bit illogical. OK, he was going backwards but why did he only go backwards when he went to sleep? And then when he woke up, the day he woke up in would go forwards. Too complicated to do the action continuously backwards, I concluded.

The guy who played Martin was also in Terminator 2 - he was the scientist who use the original Terminator's retrieved robotic arm to develop cybernetics. The reason I mention this is because he and Robert Patrick must have known each other! I thought it was a nice bit of trivia.

I was interested to see Doggett's apartment in this episode. A bit more roomy than Mulder's I thought. Does this mean we are beginning to get pieces of the jigsaw of who Doggett is? Perhaps. He owns a mountain bike. I wonder if he ever goes out on it and whether we will see him go out on it.

But as a whole, I found this episode very unappealing. All Scully and Doggett did was wander into Martin's jail cell with the latest piece of 'new' evidence. There were hardly any other scenes set anywhere else. Was this a saving money episode, cos it felt like it? Scully left most of the talking to Doggett, like she had been struck dumb and the only contribution she seemed to want to make was being prepared to listen when Martin said time was going backwards. I wrote down no interesting dialogue to refer back to - zilch. The episode wasn't terrible, it just didn't excite me really. But at least I know what Redrum is now!
