I too have trouble with Scully's nonchalance in the teaser of all things. One consolation is that it wasn't in the middle of the night that she left as I originally thought too. It was morning time. The sun was coming in the window or at least some light. Maybe they are used to doing this. Maybe as it was Monday morning she had to go home and get ready for work and she decided to let Mulder sleep because it wasn't their first time. No big deal. She probably does that alot. I agree that after Millenium they did seem lovey dovey. They did try to make the other jealous and Scully did berate Mulder for perving at the girl in Rush as if she had ownership of him. Same with Jade Blue. He teased her on purpose both times. People who haven't yet worked out their feeings for eachother don't tease and flirt like that. Why bother trying to make someone jealous in such an obvious manner if you aren't sure they'll get the joke? yep, they've been going for it since Millenium. In fact you can be sure that as soon as they went through that hospital door they broke into a run and headed straight for the nearest motel room. Well maybe not. Rather, they drove to some luxury country club type resort that had a honey moon suite with spa, pool, cocktails, double shower and overhead mirrors etc......and stayed there the entire weekend.

BUT.....there is an argument for all things being the first time and that is .....even though they have been comfortable with eachother for some time now it still could be deemed a comfortableness brought about by the mutual realisation of feelings and not doings. What gives all things away as the first sexual encounter is their awkwardness around eachother in Brand X, especially whilst in the company of Skinner. Its like when you've done something in secret and you wonder if anybody can tell just by looking at you. It was like they were trying too hard to be casually professional with eachother. I dunno. I wonder if we ever will. Perhaps we should all take the time between seasons to watch the whole season and try to pick the time. Someone said ages ago that they became sexually involved as far back as Field Trip. I think you could say any ep and still be able to convince people that that was the time. M and S have looked and acted like they were on together forever. Even since S1. I reckon we've all got Buckleys picking it.
