Subject: Mulder's and Scully's beliefs.

Thanks for the info and the response, detoured. I have read most of what you had to say about the similiar yet differences in their individual belief systems before, but it was nice to get your pov.

I agree about Mulder's quest being his religion. But he is at heart a skeptic unless he experiences something paranormal himself, (he wants to believe) then he doesn't question it, for instance, in Gethesmane he's really, really suspicious of the discovery until he witnesses the "autopsy". And isn't something even said about him buying it like "they" planned somewhere near the end, 'cause "they" knew what kind of proof he needed. heh, heh, I think there will be no more of that skepticism now.

Scully, though, until this last season, seemed to be at odds with her religion and her scientific knowledge. I didn't think she had incorporated them together all that well, nor was comfortable about it. But she like Mulder has grown and changed. The more she experienced things she couldn't prove scientifically and did not want to believe exists, the more she was forced to accept that not everything fit into a neat little 'black & white' belief system. As we all know. heh, heh, I think there will be very little of that skepticism now.

As always, detoured, an interesting post, thanks.
Chantal
