I read a lot of that stuff at the Haven. I'll have to see if I can find the articles. Trouble is, I usually read them as they come in on the What'ss New page and I'm not sure where they are now. The last one was pretty recent and was from an Australian interview he did and that one should still be linked not too far back on their What's New pages.

I've read more than once that he didn't like Season 7. In one article (this might have been the Entertainment Weekly one he did when he was promoting Return to Me. I have that issue.) He asks the interviewer something like, 'Did you see how bad those last two episodes were?' But I don't know when the interview was done so I don't know which two episodes he meant. But he really has knocked the writing this year and basically said they don't have any ideas anymore. But then he says that the exception is his episode! I take exception to that! I liked Hollywood AD but I wouldn't rank it as the best ep of Season 7. I wonder what it would be like to get into a debate with David about the series? :-)
I think he looks at things from a different perspective though. He does praise the writers by saying that this is a very hard show to write for as opposed to other series and it's hard to come up with 22 good scripts a year. But I can imagine when he gets the latest script delivered to him that he just reads it and says, "Oh Mulder and Scully investigate some paranormal thing. Mulder has a theory and Scully disagrees. Ho-hum." As an actor I can see where it wouldn't be interesting or challenging for him to play this role anymore. They really do need to take things in a drastic new direction so at least with DD complaining so much maybe he'll shake things up a bit!

The religion hallway scene was ok but I think it made me uncomfortable because I don't like it when he disrespects her beliefs. No matter what they are, she doesn't do that with him (at least not much) and so he shouldn't do that to her. If he wants to think her beliefs are ridiculous that's his prerogative but I think he should kep it to himself and not verbally insult her. Maybe he feels the two of them know eah other so well and are so comfortble with each other that they shouldn't be afraid to broach any subject with one another no matter how vehemently they might disagree. But when she said she was going to try not to be insulted that was so right of her to react strongly. He always gets way out of line about this issue.

I thought the end bit was good though when he told her his report would reflect that she shot him in self defense even though they both knew he was covering for her. DD was good there. But through a lot of the ep he looked bored. How did Mulder make that sudden leap about a post hypnotic suggestion anyway? It was very weird and didn't gel well at all.

No I don't have any rules about discussing religion. I would hope we are all respectful of people's beliefs on these boards no matter what they are (unlike Mulder! ;-)) but if someone has a strong viewpoint on that they should use their own discretion and perhaps make the decision not to bring it up if they think it's best. But anyone who feels they can discuss it without hurting anyone's feelings then be my guest. :-)

As for your reference to someone else's post, I don't think Scully's IQ has anything to do with her beliefs. It is a matter of faith and faith and intelligence are two different things. The fact that she is able to incorporate both science and religion into her life because she chooses to do so and embraces them both may demonstrate that she is much more intelligent than most.
Not to say that as a judgement either in favor or opposed to what she believes, only pointing to the fact that she is able to do it and feel comfortable with it in her own mind whereas others may feel that the two issues of religion and scientific evidence to prove things cannot both coexist in one person's belief system.

What we are presented with on the series is that Mulder is quite religious as well and also makes it a part of his life. It's just that his religion is not conventional. But everything he believes involving the paranormal can be considerd his "religion". And he relies on faith and believing in things more often than Scully does unless she has scientific evidence to back it up. Mulder will hear someone tell him a story about being abducted or seeing a ghost and he will say, "I believe you." And yet he finds Scully's faith in God and belief in miracles hard to grasp. She has a hard time understanding that and he has a hard time understanding how she needs proof about aliens and ghosts but not about the existance of God. It has certainly set up an interesting conflict between them!

There. I talked about religion and I'm not deleting myself! ;-)
