OK I watched that part again. I guess the reason it didn't stick in my memory is because, in that context it didn't bother me. And also because I know Mulder wouldn't use that term lightly. As I said above, that term seems to get tossed around lately as if it's a synonym for 'female' and I don't like it's usage that way.

Here, Mulder was really poed at the genie. If the genie had been a man I'm sure he would have called him a bastard or an SOB. There aren't a lot of swear words they are even allowed to use on XF. I think 'bitch' was the strongest he could have said to her.

Like I said, Mulder wouldn't use that term lightly. He was just upset. I'll betcha he would NEVER call Scully that! And not just because she'd sock him one. I just can't imagine him ever saying that to her.

They needed a shocking word to put in because Skinner and the others were now watching him. In this context I thought it was amusing because Mulder was so frustrated. It worked ok for me. And remember as the scene plays out, Mulder is the one who winds up looking foolish for saying 'bitch' to an empty chair in front of his superiors.
