Subject: My ranking of the Season 7 eps

Hi, Everybody!

In order to help ease the withdrawal symtoms of the first Sunday in seven months without a new XF ep to look forward to in the near future, I've decided to post my rankings of the Season 7 eps, from best to worst. Let me know what you think.

1. "Requiem" - talk about saving the best for last! Not only did we get a great mytharc ep, not only did we get virtually the entire cast crammed into one ep, we got more shippiness per minute than any ep, ever! And Scully's final line allowed us shippers to finally claim victory!

2. "Millennium" — as a shipper, the ep where Mulder and Scully finally share their first real kiss probably would have been one of my favorites no matter what! This happened to be a good ep in other ways, too, though. The whole mood of the episode was vintage XF, it had Skinner in it and Agent Frank Black was great! Bonus points for the hilarious "math geek" line.

3. "Hollywood, A.D." — the "three-way bathtub phone conversation" scene was wonderful! Between the shippy stuff, like Mulder and Scully holding hands, and getting to see a more human side to Skinner, we really got to know our three favorite F.B.I. agents better.

4. "all things" — While I would have preferred to see a bit more of Mulder in this ep, the opening and closing sequences were so perfect that I didn't mind the oversight.

5. "Amor Fati" - this ranks as highly as it does mostly for the closing scene, which was shippy enough to melt even CC's noromo heart! And the fact that it was the episode where we finally got to say "Ding Dong, the witch is dead!" didn't hurt, either.

6. "Je Souhaite" - This lighthearted ep was a lot of fun, but my favorite part was the end. Watching Mulder and Scully just "hang out" together is the kind of thing I love.

7. "Rush" - It's hard to explain why I liked this episode so much, but I did. It was an intriguing case that seemed to take a fresh angle on the kind of occurrances Mulder and Scully investigate. They were both in their usual roles of skeptic and believer. If I had a friend who had never watched the show and I wanted them to understand what it was all about, I think I'd start them out on this episode.

8. "The Amazing Maleeni" - This was a fun episode that I really enjoyed. It was an actual *MYSTERY* that kept me guessing until the final scene. It's nice to have an occasional ep that doesn't have any supernatural elements to it. I bet Mulder and Scully get more brownie points with the rest of the bureau for foiling bank robberies than for investigating extra-terrestrials.

9. "Sein Und Zunt" — It was nice to see Mulder, Scully and Skinner all working so closely together on this and Scully doing such a good job of just "being there" for Mulder when he needed her. I also like the part where Mulder was holding a press conference; it's the sort of thing real F.B.I. agents do frequently, but we've never seen it on "XF" before.

10. "Closure" — It was great to see Mulder finally come to a point where he can put Samantha's disappearance behind him. Another thing I liked about this ep was how Mulder and Scully each reached basically the same conclusion, but went about it in their own ways: she by methodically searching the records, he by channeling a psychic.

11. "The Goldberg Variation" - A pretty good episode. The Wiley Coyote line was a classic.

12. "Chimera" - This was a pretty good ep, but it would have been a lot better if it hadn't been "Scully-lite".

13. "Theef" - This was a solid, classic episode. I also enjoyed the fact that it was the first time all season that Mulder got to rescue Scully, rather than vice versa.

14. "Brand X" - The shippy hospital scene was great and so was getting to see Skinner actually investigate a case rather than just sit behind a desk. But the bugs grossed me out and I was really perturbed when Mulder nearly died again. Hasn't the poor man been through enough for one season? He nearly died in the second ep, he lost his mother just a couple of months ago and he nearly died again in this ep. Not to mention the various minor "ouchies" he's suffered (i.e. broken arm in "Millennium", rattlesnake bites in "Signs and Wonders", etc.)

15. "Signs and Wonders" - Of the two religiously-centered episodes so far this season, I thought this was the better one. Bonus points for Mulder's "business casual" look.

16. "The Sixth Extinction" - while this was much better than the previous year's season opener, any ep in which Mulder does nothing but lie in a hospital bed while Scully searches for answers to cure him just doesn't rank all that high on my list.

17. "Fight Club" - this ep wasn't bad, and I was at least grateful they set it someplace other than California. But it seemed to serious to be a "fun" episode and too lighthearted to be a "dark episode".

18. "First Person Shooter" - I loved seeing the Lone Gunmen for the first time all season, and I loved seeing Mulder wearing black leather. Other than that, the ep didn't impress me all that much.

19. "En Ami" - While it was kind of a cute role reversal for Scully to be the "ditcher" and Mulder the "ditchee", the point of this ep was apparently to make us feel more sympathetic toward CSM. Considering the man shot his own son last season, simply seeing him behave politely to Scully didn't change my feelings one bit.

20. "Orison" - apparently the XF team learned nothing from "Pusher/Kitsungari". Bringing Pfaster back *sounded* like a good idea, but it didn't come across very well.

21. "X-COPS" - I guess you had to be a fan of both shows to "get" this ep. As I've never watched "COPS", nor had any desire to do so, I didn't care for this ep. I also hated the fact that, out of the first 12 eps, this was the third one to be set in Southern California.

22. "Hungry" - the only REALLY bad ep this season. Mulder and Scully barely appeared in it and the MOTW was a tired retread of the ones from "Tooms/Our Town/2Shy". Minus points for being set in Southern California for no discernible reason other than "XF" films there and they were too lazy to pretend it was someplace else.
